Almost everyone uses Dropbox these days. If you care about looks, you will probably want to change the icons. Unfortunately, there is no way (that I know of) to change the notification area icon, but the default icons used in Nautilus to display the status of each file can easily be changed. Charles A. @ Dropbox forums posted some beautiful Tango icons and a script to install them:
To install the icons, simply paste this in a terminal (it is always advisable to take a look at any script before you run it, so do that before entering the sudo ./Install.sh command):
If you want to reverse this, simply run the uninstall script:
Bonus: make your Dropbox folder look like a Tangofied version of the Dropbox logo.
wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/62148/Misc/Dropbox%20Emblems.tar.gz
tar -xvf Dropbox\ Emblems.tar.gz
cd Dropbox\ Emblems
sudo ./Install.sh
If you want to reverse this, simply run the uninstall script:
sudo ./Uninstall.sh
Bonus: make your Dropbox folder look like a Tangofied version of the Dropbox logo.
Download the icon from HERE, then right click on your Dropbox folder, select "Proprieties", click on the folder icon and browse for the "dropbox.svg" file you've just downloaded.
