About 3 months ago, we were telling you about Minitunes, a new music player created by the Minitube developer. Today, Flavio announced the first version of Minitunes - 0.1.
Since it's still very young, don't except a huge list of features. Besides, the whole purpose of Minitunes is not to offer the user all the options one can think of, but play the music - with style!
With Minitunes, you browse your music by artist pictures or album covers, in just the way you organized it. There's also an info pane which retrieves info via Last.fm:
What's missing in Minitunes 0.1? Well, a search function would be really useful and the same goes for Last.fm / Libre.fm scrobbling. But let's not forget this is the very first public release!
Install Minitunes in Ubuntu (Karmic, Lucid and Maverick):
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8 && sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install minitunes
If you're not using Ubuntu, there are Linux binaries available @ Minitunes home page page (and for Mac too).
Special thanks to LinuX Freedom For Live for the debianization of Minitunes - we used his debian folder with the latest Minitunes 0.1 and uploaded it to the WebUpd8 PPA (with a small dependency fix).
