Elegant Gnome Theme Pack 0.7 Released With Automatic Firefox Theme Installation, Lots More

Elegant Gnome Pack 0.7

Elegant Gnome Theme Pack, one of the best dark themes was updated today and it now automatically installs a Firefox theme to match Elegant Gnome. But that's not all, there are a lot of changes in the latest Elegant Gnome Pack 0.7:

  • New GTK+ theme version
  • A Google Chrome Theme and Google Chrome scrollbar extension to match the GTK+ theme
  • New icons for the experimental version of the Dropbox - you no longer have to overwrite the Dropbox icons, but now the theme can specify the Dropbox icons like for any native app (it requires the latest Dropbox experimental)
  • The AwOken icon theme has been updated to version 1.1.

Besides these new 'features', a lot of bugs have been fixed, including the bug related to GDM2, Emesene and infobar background. More info can be found @ Gnome Look.

Ubuntu installation

As you know, Elegant Gnome Pack comes with a PPA so the installation is very simple. However, starting with version 0.6, it uses the latest Murrine Engine so you'll have to also add the Murrine Daily PPA:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:murrine-daily/ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-murrine

The Elegant Gnome Pack author, Arobase, also suggests you install Nautilus Elementary:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:am-monkeyd/nautilus-elementary-ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
nautilus -q #restarts nautilus

And finally, install Elegant Gnome Pack (and the Droid font which is required by the theme):
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elegant-gnome/ppa && sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install elegant-gnome ttf-droid

If you're using Linux Mint, replace "elegant-gnome" in the last command above with "elegant-gnome-mint".

Once installed, go to Applications > Accessories > Elegant GNOME and install the theme as well as the additional configurations:

If you want to install the Google Chrome Elegant GNOME theme and scrollbars, you'll have to manually download the archive via Gnome-Look, extract it and then drag and drop both the theme and scrollbars extension into the Google Chrome window to install them.
