Install Audacious 2.4.4 (Music Player With GTK And Winamp-Like Interface) In Ubuntu [WebUpd8 PPA]

Audacious music player is a fork of Beep Media Player (BMP), which itself forked from XMMS. It looks a lot like Winamp 2.x (and the playlist, song adding functions and so on, are similar to Winamp) but it also comes with a GTK interface.

The clean interface, amazing functionality with lots of plugins and a low memory footprint have helped Audacious become the default music player in Lubuntu 11.04 (replacing Aqualung).

We've received a lot of requests for this so here it is: Audacious 2.4.4 is finally available in the WebUpd8 PPA.

Further more, the packages in the WebUpd8 PPA have been built with "libguess" enabled (which provides automatic character code detection) as requested by WebUpd8 reader rAX a while back. The Audacious packages in both Ubuntu and Debian are not built with libguess because libguess is not available in Debian yet - but it's now available in the WebUpd8 PPA.

Unfortunately I don't have a changelog for the latest Audacious 2.4.4 so if you want to know what's new, I'm sorry but I can't help you.
