Pastie - Very Simple Clipboard Manager With Application Indicator Support [Ubuntu]

pastie

Using a clipboard manager in Linux is a must for most people because of a very old bug: if you copy something from one application, then close it and try to paste the copied text - it doesn't work.

Pastie is a very simple Linux clipboard manager with Application Indicator support so it will fit perfectly into your Ubuntu desktop.

The source code is available @ Github and there's a .deb file available for download too.

Update 1: There is now a PPA available for Pastie:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hel-sheep/pastie && sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pastie

Once you install Pastie, run it by going to Applications > Accessories.

For a more advanced Linux clipboard manager, see Parcellite.

Update 2: to use a monochrome icon for Pastie (thanks to bungh0l3!), download THIS Parcellite icon, then extact the archive (you'll need 7zip), and place the gtk-paste.svg icon in /usr/share/icons/Humanity/status/24 (it requires you run Nautilus with gksu). If you want to use the dark icon (for a light panel), rename it to gtk-paste.svg and place it in the same folder mentioned above.

Then you need to log out and log back in! If that doesn't work, update the icons cache with:
sudo gtk-update-icon-cache -f /usr/share/icons/ICON_THEME

Where "ICON_THEME" is the icon theme for which you installed the new icon.

Here's how it looks using the Elementary icons:
