OpenShot Video Editor 1.1 Released!

OpenShot 1.1 (non-linear video editor) was released yesterday and it addresses 40 bugs and features.

The most requested feature was probably the "Undo / Redo" support which has finally been included in OpenShot.

Other new features and improvements in OpenShot 1.1:

• Lots of speed improvements
• Improved export screen
• Multiple copies of effects can be added to clips
• Dynamic tiling of overlapping clips: take an unlimited number of clips (that are all on separate tracks playing at the same time), and tile them across the screen. OpenShot does all of the math, and the user only has to click 1 menu option (in the Layout menu)
• New effects have been added: Contrast, Edge Glow, Saturation, and Cartoon
• Fade in / out menu has been added
• Timeline scrolling has been improved to better support lots and lots of tracks
• H.264 support has been improved to support Debian

To install OpenShot 1.1 in Ubuntu, paste this in a terminal (Ubuntu Karmic and Lucid - although OpenShot 1.1 alpha is already in the Lucid repositories and should be updated soon):

a) Add the PPA:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jonoomph/openshot-edge

b) Upgrade to OpenShot 1.1:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

c) Install OpenShot 1.1:

sudo apt-get install openshot openshot-doc
