Create A Shortcut To Kill Stop Responding Applications [Windows]

In Windows, it take a while to press Ctrl + Alt + Del, then select an application which has stopped responding end select "End task". There is a much easier way to do this, with a simple shortcut which will terminate any non responsive application.

To create a shortcut to kill stop responding applications, right click on your desktop and select "Create a new shortcut".

Point the shortcut to this:

taskkill.exe /f /fi "status eq not responding"

Whenever an application stops responding, double click this icon and the applications which have stopped responding will be terminated.

Note: this does not work on Windows XP Home edition because TaskKill.exe is not installed in this Windows version.

Systray "Shortcuts" Application for Windows: MedalFolders

MedalFolders

MedalFolders is a freeware application that sits in your system tray (next to the clock) and acts as a "Favorites" link for Windows. It allows for adding items to the list through simple drag and drop, and will automatically separate the items by type.

You can use MedalFolders for quick links to: files, folders, applications and even URLs. The application also supports import/export, allowing you to move your shortcuts on other computers.

Overall, it's a simple applications with few features but very useful which allows you to have everything you need, just one click away.

MedalFolders works on all Windows versions, is freeware and you can download it from HERE.

For a Linux alternative (well, almost), see this post: Remove The Clutter On Your Gnome Panels With Drop-Down Launchers
